The Blade has an opening in our award winning sports department for a full-time Sports Reporter.

Duties:  Will serve as lead high school sports writer as well as write urgent breaking news stories for The Blade's website and apps. Will display concise writing that is friendly for an online audience. Identify and chase impactful stories that fall between core beats and engage readers and must have a passion and drive to report news first. May be tasked with hosting a podcast. The position will involve evening and weekend work.

Qualifications: Must have demonstrated success writing under deadline pressure and uniquely for digital platforms. Must have experience with and understanding of digital media practices and workflow. Must have firm understanding of college recruiting. Experience covering a wide variety of sports, from high school to college to professional is preferred. Highly organized and detail-oriented with a proven ability to juggle multiple tasks. A college degree is required.
