Sports Anchor/Reporter – WDRB News | Louisville, KY

The opportunity of a lifetime just hit the airwaves.

WDRB News is on the hunt for a passionate Sports Anchor/Reporter to join our award-winning team of veteran journalists with over 100 years of combined experience covering Louisville sports. This is your chance to work in a city where sports aren't just followed—they’re lived.

We're looking for someone who brings energy, versatility, and a digital-first mindset. This role is more than just reading highlights in the studio—our sports journalists dive deep into the stories behind the games. You'll cover major college athletics including the University of Louisville, University of Kentucky, Indiana University, and Western Kentucky University, while also spotlighting powerful, character-driven stories in high school sports.

Louisville is also home to minor league baseball, professional soccer, and the world-famous Kentucky Derby. Nowhere compares to this city—especially on the first Saturday in May.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A dynamic storyteller who thrives under pressure and can juggle multiple responsibilities.

  • A confident communicator and natural leader with a collaborative spirit.

  • A journalist who can shoot, write, edit, and produce compelling content for both broadcast and digital platforms.

  • Someone with at least 3 years of on-air sports reporting experience—prior Sports Director experience is a plus.

  • An engaging on-air presence, particularly during breaking news and live events.

  • Creative and ethical in newsgathering, with a sharp eye for photography and editing.

  • Strong editorial judgment, excellent organizational skills, and a positive, team-first attitude.

  • A journalism or communications degree and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Familiarity with the Kentucky/Southern Indiana sports scene is a bonus, but not required—we value strong storytelling above all.

Why WDRB?

  • Generous PTO and holidays

  • Paid Maternity and Paternity Leave

  • Half-price YMCA membership

  • Ongoing training and development opportunities

  • A supportive, ego-free work culture focused on collaboration

  • A chance to learn from industry-leading talent
