JOB TITLE: Lineperson
DEPARTMENT: Technical Operations-Construction
JOB SUMMARY:
Lineperson must maintain the knowledge and ability to place strand, coaxial and fiber optic cable in accordance with accepted practices and standards. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, the candidate is required to become a member of the bargaining unit. Lineperson reports directly to Construction Supervisor; there are no direct reports to this position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Lineperson is accountable for:
· Knowledge in the proper placement of strand, anchors and bonding, and all other aspects of pole-line construction.
· Ability to handle the placement and lashing of coaxial and fiber optic cable.
· Safely operating all equipment necessary to complete the task of strand and cable placement.
· Safely operating vehicles and trailers used in performing the job.
· Properly caring for and maintaining all equipment used in the job.
· Reporting any unsafe plant, vehicles and/or equipment conditions promptly.
· Ability to direct the line crew in the performance of their duties.
· Ability to train a Lineperson in all aspects of the job.
· Reporting job performance and productivity daily to the Construction Supervisor.
· Following the Company’s policies and procedures, including the EEO guidelines, at all times.
· Performing other duties as directed by the Construction Supervisor or other designated Company official.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
· High School diploma/equivalent - required
· Minimum of one year experience in aerial plant construction - preferred
· Experience in pole climbing – preferred
Skills Required
· Ability to safely operate a vehicle in a variety of conditions
· Ability to set up and climb ladders and poles in a safe manner
· Ability to read and understand system design prints
· Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds repeatedly
Other Requirements
· Possess and maintain an acceptable driving record and valid driver's license
· Possess an acceptable legal record
· Perform work following all established operating and safety procedures
· Properly use all tools and safety equipment as directed by the Company
· Properly and promptly follow directions of the supervisor

PHYSICAL DEMAND
Walking, standing, lifting up to 75 pounds, stooping, climbing, sitting, hearing, talking, vision, use of hands and fingers. Ability to work at heights for extended periods
WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Lineperson is a position subject to the terms and conditions of the current bargaining agreement under Teamsters Local 20.
· The regular shift for the Lineperson position will be 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Hours including holidays, Sunday’s, and after dark will only be assigned to cover special emergencies.
· Overtime will be assigned as needed by the Company.
· Lineperson reports to work at 7300 Airport Hwy, with the majority of the work being completed off Company premise and outside in all weather conditions.
· Lineperson will be paid hourly
· Must be able to obtain and continuously maintain compliance status for all applicable governmental regulations, including but not limited to, Department of Transportation (DOT) qualifications and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A regulations.
· Lineperson will be subject to periodic records check, and will be required to give written approval upon request. Lineperson will be repeatedly carrying a ladder. This includes removing and replacing the ladder on the top of the truck.
