Join Our Leadership Team as Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Block Communications is looking for a dynamic, strategic, and highly analytical Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the Finance and Accounting operations for our broadcast division. Broadcast includes multiple TV/Media stations under Block Communications, Inc. - including WDRB/WBKI (Louisville, KY), WLIO (Lima, OH), and WAND/DAND (Decatur, IL).
This is a high-impact executive role where you’ll work closely with station leadership, make key financial decisions, and shape the financial future of our broadcast operations.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Own the month-end close process for multiple entities, including detailed variance analysis to budget and prior years.
- Lead budgeting and forecasting—prepare annual capital and operating budgets, plus 5-year projections for multiple properties.
- Analyze and reconcile key assets including amortization and impairment.
- Provide financial guidance and strategic insight to support executive decision-making.
- Supervise all accounting functions, including team management, recruitment, training, and performance development.
- Oversee contract negotiations and vendor pricing, finding cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of property tax returns, financial reports, and compliance deliverables.
- Implement and validate internal processes that drive accountability, clarity, and results.
- Uphold and enforce company policies, EEO standards, and safety protocols.
What You Bring:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field (master’s preferred).
- Active CPA certification (required).
- 7+ years of experience in general ledger accounting and financial statement prep.
- 5+ years in a senior-level finance leadership or supervisory role.
- A solid understanding of corporate and labor law as it pertains to financial operations.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, analysis tools) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with SAGEX3, ZAPP, and Wide Orbit is a major plus.
- A sharp eye for detail, strong organizational and analytical thinking, and top-tier communication skills.
- A high level of discretion—able to maintain strict confidentiality on all financial matters.
